Good day, this ia Laruto aka Laertes from Trinidad, i'm looking foward to visiting St Maarten for the first time next year and i was wondering if the Xbox 360 is currently being considered as a platform for some games next year during your tourney. i know it's still a very new system, but by event time next year i am certain that quite a bit of avid gaming fans throughout the caribbean will be more than familiar with games like Perfect Dark 0 or even Dead Or Alive 4 ( i hate this fighting series, but it will be popular redardless). With respect to PC gaming, i know you all are going to have it this year but which games are going to be available? i am already going to assume that Warcraft3 Frozen Throne and Counterstrike Source will be big names present, but what about Unreal Tournament 2004, we have a couple of really good players here who will definitely have a big impact. Or alternativley, has Quake 4 been looked at? I will agree with any gamer who says that the game is not that much an improvement from the previous installment but keep in mind that ID games holds Quake-Con every year, so chances are they may be willing to show support to this event as well and who knows, maybe the winners here would be able to oneday enter Quake-con. Or to kill 2 birds with one stone, how about Quake 4 tourney for the XBOX 360 version?
anyway just a few little ideas, hope you guys keep stepping up the level of your event, it could really go places.\

Hey Laruto, thanks for giving us your suggestions.
Its very likely that 360 is in. There is more than enough time for people to get a feel of the game. For example, when we did our first competiton, halo was only out the december before that. Even so, Halo pulled the second largest crowd at that tourney. 360 has an even bigger headstart, so it's very likley that we'll have the 360 in the competition.
At the moment, the best way we can guage the Pc Gaming is with the Game Voting results. We will be posting these results monthly in our newsletter, but a rought estimate shows that Counterstrike source and W3FT are the only PC games with substantial votes.
However, i'll be quite frank and tell you that it won;t be possible to host any RTS for the next VxG Tournament. Since PC Gaming is a new venture, we don't want to outdo ourselves, like what some people say the Arena Tournament in trinidad did. We simply won;t have the time in the weekend to host anything more than 1 or 2 FPS games, one of whcih is defitely Counterstrike Source. The other games you mentioned are possible. All you need to do is tell your friends to send in their votes at the website, that way we can more guage the type of games people wanna play.

i hear what you are saying man, and i appreciate the response.
i especially likethe fact that you are willing to accept your own limitations b4 taking on too much with respect to the PC gaming side.
2 FPS allowed, well i guess Counterstrike source would be one of the most viable options, hopefully the other game could be one of the faster paced FPS to offer gamers a nice change pf pace.

I must agree that it is wize to hold of on the UT and Q4 until you gather more experience in the field of PC Gaming. There is no going wrong with CS:Source, it popular and wcg compliant.
VXG please don't make a mistake made in Trinidad with popularity of a game ruling the tourneys. In TnT SOF2 is the most popular FPS, it has little international value and was propagted because of a lack of foresight. We, like yourselves adhere to WCG and as a result made the move to CS:Source.
You all are doing a great job with your research into PC Gaming, its a field that you are not familiar with, nice start.
I hope to address your scheduling issues in another thread, we have conducted 3 major CS:Source tourneys, 2 Warcraft tourneys and constantly play them both.
Question Larry How big is Q4 tourneys on a console platform?

Yeh, you can open another thread about scheduling. I'll post how we see the three days unfolding so you have an idea of what timespans we have.
Indeed, i agree that staying to international standards is imperative. Thats why our key aim is not only to just host the new game, but educate people about the new games... transfer people so to speak. We've had Third Strike clinics (whcih i myself need to be a part of, because i have been a old-fhasioned SF champ for years, but i get I disagree klicked in third strike). Same with counterstrike - you guys should hold a clinic or two to convert the old school player to source, for exmaple.
What you mentioned to larry: If we can play Q4 on console, that would be great, since we'd have a lot of console system up and running, making it easier tohandle withint our infrastructure.

well Q4 only just coming out on consoles so there is no history at all about a console tourneys and their success. however ID is a smart company, they have seen how successful Halo tournaments were on the Xbox so i am feeling pretty confident that they will include Q4 for the 360 in some form. but my suggestion of Q4 for the 360 was merely an example, i do not believe that Q4 will be the standout 360 shooter over the next few months, this will definitely be the time to be a player of Perfect Dark 0.

Q4 seems like a risk. However there are some people into it on the island. Infact there is a guy ranked #2 on world ranking.... Forgot his name =/
